The four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft have surpassed the mark set by Apollo 13 in 1970.

Artemis II and its crew is conducting its historic lunar flyby on Monday afternoon, traveling farther from Earth than any human in space, surpassing Apollo 13's mission in 1970.

The four-member crew successfully completed a "translunar injection burn" on Thursday, sending them out of Earth's orbit and toward the moon.
