A blanketing of several inches of snow greeted many Americans as they awoke the morning of Dec. 27 as a winter storm rolled through parts of the Northeast and New England.

People across Scotland are being warned to prepare for more snow and ice as the north and north-east of the country enters their ninth consecutive snow day.

According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts of up to 50 to 70 mph were reported across southeastern New York.
