Cutting the J channel in one piece definitely makes the install easier and the mitre nice and tight. I don’t miss hand nailing either, even though I ran out of nails, it didn’t take too long to put a new coil in and keep going. One miss of the hammer in the winter could mean a cracked J-channel as well.
