MPA HISTORY | THE UDF - LET'S REMIND OUR CHILDREN UDF – Mitchells Plains significant role in our freedom In the 1980s, the UDF in Mitchells Plain played a key role in the fight against apartheid. It united civic groups, youth, churches, and workers to oppose the tricameral parliament and resist injustice through marches, boycotts, and community action. Despite heavy repression and states of emergency, activists remained strong. Many later joined the ANC, helping build a democratic South Africa.
