In just one week we increased our nest count by 2,446, bringing our current total to 17,633 nests! You can support our research through our adoption program. For the months of March-October, you can adopt a loggerhead, green or leatherback nest. When nesting season ends, adoptees will be emailed an update on their nest! While snapping sunrise pictures at House of Refuge beach, a local photographer spotted something unexpected, a giant loggerhead sea turtle wedged in the rocks! She called FWC for help and one of our officers arrived with backup from Martin County Fire Rescue. Together, they were able to lift the approximately 300-pound sea turtle from where it was lodged.
